2. Mobility with Locking Casters
Any trolley that doesn't roll on its own or lock in place is a pain in any environment. Carpet and transitions that vary in floor level within the offices. Wet tile and floor drains in bathrooms. Kitchen floors at restaurants are greasy and the turning of aisles at restaurants are tight.
Specify trolleys with:
Caster diameter: Min diameter of caster should be at least 75mm (3 inches) for office carpet use and 100mm (4 inches) is recommended for restaurant kitchen floors.
Caster material: Polyurethane or nylon for quiet rolling as well as floor protection. Avoid hard plastic.
Two locking casters (brakes): Two casters with swivel wheels that can actually be locked into position (brakes). If using in a restaurant, opt for four locking casters or a central brake system.

3. Material and Finish for Each Environment
There are differences in the demands that can be made in an office setting, bathroom setting and restaurant setting. A powder coated steel office trolley in black, white or gray is a must for a professional look. A bathroom trolley should be able to stand up to humidity and the occasional splash of water – stainless steel or epoxy coated steel. Stainless steel is best for a restaurant trolley that is used daily and exposed to extreme cleaning solutions, high temperatures and food acids.
Choose materials accordingly:
Office: Powder coated steel (black or white) with non-snag paper smooth shelves.
Bathroom: never use particle board, epoxy coated or stainless with sealed edges to keep moisture out of particle board.
Restaurant: All open wire shelves for drainage and air flow, 304 stainless steel for corrosion resistance, at restaurant.

A basic trolley frame is a tool capable of being configured into a variety of different task specific tools with the appropriate accessories. Add cabinet lock or waste bin bracket to actual offices.. Add towel bar or paper towel dispenser mount to bathrooms. Install side rails on restaurants to keep pans from sliding; get a knife holder or add a cutting board surface to restaurants.
